David A. Payne
Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder
Prior to co-founding ShortTail, David was SVP/General Manager of CNN.com, the world’s leading news website and mobile platform. While running CNN.com, David served in a variety of industry positions, including the Board of Directors (Exec. Comm.) of the Online Publishers Association and the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Mr. Payne previously held a variety of executive positions at Turner Broadcasting System, including SVP/Business Operations & Development of CNN Worldwide, SVP/General Manger of SI.com, VP/Business Affairs of Turner Sports, and VP/Team Counsel for the Atlanta Braves, Hawks and Thrashers. Prior to joining Turner, David served a 3-year appointment as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. David received both his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Duke University.
Jason R. Krebs
Co-Founder & Advisor
Prior to co-founding ShortTail, Jason was the VP/Interactive at Conde Nast Media Group where he was responsible for managing corporate advertising sales and marketing. Previously, Jason was the VP of Sales and Marketing at NYTimes.com, where he managed marketing services, advertising revenue and classifieds. Prior to that, he served as VP/General Manager of classifieds for both NYTimes.com and Boston.com. From 1998 to 2000, Krebs served as VP/General Manager for newyorktoday.com and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the site. Previously, Krebs served as Managing Director of national ad sales for The New York Times on the Web. Jason received his BS from West Virginia University.
George Bell
Managing Director, General Catalyst Partners
As Managing Director of General Catalyst Partners, George serves as a board member of Data Logix; PhotoShelter; ShortTail Media and WonderHowTo and is a board advisor of Big Fish Games and HubSpot. He formerly served on the board of Going.com, acquired by AOL, LLC in June 2009. Prior to General Catalyst, George was CEO of UPromise and was also Chairman and CEO of Excite@Home. Previously George founded The Outdoor Life Network (now Versus Network), a specialty cable channel; served as SVP, Times Mirror Magazines, and has won four national Emmy Awards as a producer and writer of adventure, wildlife and vanishing culture documentaries for ABC, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic. George holds a BA from Harvard College
David Orfao
Managing Director, General Catalyst Partners
Prior to co-founding General Catalyst, David held the positions of President, CEO or Senior VP of Sales, Operations or Marketing for four publicly held companies. Most recently, David led Allaire Corporation from 1997 to 2000 as President, CEO and Board Member. Prior to his CEO role at Allaire, David held the positions of Senior VP of Sales Operations and Marketing at Frame Technology Corporation, Claris Corporation, and SQA Corporation. David earned a B.A. in Business and Accounting from Norwich University of Vermont.
